AEC analytics game-changer: How building industry leaders use Speckle to turn design data into smarter decisions
Turning data into decisions is the real game-changer. With real-time dashboards, every design change is instantly connected to cost, schedule, and performance—so your project data becomes a living intelligence system that surfaces answers before you even know the questions. Because let’s face it: decisions made on stale or hidden data are just guesswork.
In this article, we’ll look at how Gensler, Royal HaskoningDHV, Beyond Carbon, and LINK Arkitektur are using Speckle to analyze their design data, unlock insights, and drive project success.

Doing environmental analysis is only as good as the design decisions it informs. Often, the teams that conduct analysis and those that design are separated, so the intelligence and insights gained from the study can be lost when it comes to making real change.
So the priority when it comes to gaining value from environmental analysis is to build the frameworks so they are accessible and understandable to those outside the technical teams. Communication is paramount for value to exist, and this is where Jan from LINK Arkitektur is knocking it out of the park.
Jan has built a custom 3D dashboard using Speckle to display their environmental analysis, allowing them to inspect and query it. The framework provides teams with a centralised hub for communicating analysis across the firm, breaking down silos and enabling real value to be derived from their design teams.

Haskoning

Haskoning's data workflow
Getting deep insight into your model data often requires understanding programming languages. But within the construction industry, asking professionals to also learn to program, on top of all their other responsibilities, can quickly leave them overwhelmed and ultimately lead them to give up.
But despite this, some individuals will go that extra mile or become code-curious, dipping their toes into the waters. The problem then often becomes the overwhelming amount of new information that is not entirely relevant to the problem being solved, and this is where Rami and James of Haskoning are driving internal initiatives to empower their colleagues.
Rami and James use Speckle as a conduit to bring their data into Jupyter and Voila, so their teams can build full-stack apps without the full-stack experience. The person who knows the problem and how to best solve it is always the one who personally experiences it day to day, so what better way to solve deep engineering problems than to empower your engineers to solve it themselves.

Beyond Carbon

Beyond Carbon's BCX system powered by Speckle
Analytics in construction are only incredibly valuable if you start bringing them into the early stages of projects, where changes can still be made easily in response to that feedback. Despite this, much analysis is conducted only after the fact for comparative and benchmarking purposes.
Gaining insight at the early stage is not the default state of affairs, because it's often hard to balance the flexibility and rapid change of the early design stages with complex analysis. It takes understanding the needs of both processes and how they inform each other to execute a truly productive feedback loop.
This is where David from Beyond Carbon is leveraging Speckle as his hub to allow instant access to early-stage analysis of energy, comfort, daylight, and carbon implications of design decisions.

Gensler
The actual test of any solution is how it scales across large systems. Gensler is one such extensive system, one of the biggest in fact, and a perfect example of how Speckle can scale from an individual AEC hacker to organisational integration.
Vignesh from Gensler demonstrates how they brought Speckle from pilot to integration with gBlox, Power BI, and custom solutions to gain analytical insight into the data the firm was creating. Speckle's flexibility allows Gensler to leverage data, wherever it comes from, into their custom tools.

Speckle provides the platform you need to get actual insight into your data. What is the point of building complex data-rich models and never using that data again? Data is only as valuable as the impact it has on the project; that is why Speckle is helping all these speakers access and interrogate what is really going on in their buildings.
Don't just take our word for it, hear straight from the professionals in your fields using Speckle in their day-to-day and how they're gaining a competitive edge with Speckle.
