Announcing the New Speckle x Tekla Structural Designer Integration

All you structural engineers out there, we heard you asking for more Speckle!

Today, we’re pleased to announce the Speckle x Tekla Structural Designer (TSD) integration.

Built in close collaboration with WSP's UK Structures team and Trimble, our TSD integration joins ETABS as one of Speckle's powerful structural analysis connectors. The integration is a live, in-app connector that publishes analysis results directly into Speckle to enable validation and automation workflows.

These integrations are publish-only by design: for an analysis tool, getting results out into Speckle so they can be reviewed and validated is the useful direction.

Why TSD?

During our initial rollout of Speckle, we were inundated with requests for a TSD connector. It's the preferred analysis platform for many of our teams across the UK. People could see the value of bringing models into Speckle for review and validation, but couldn't yet bring in their TSD models. Now that's changed. We can capture both analysis and BIM models, with full version history, on one platform, and put that data to work. So far, we're seeing three primary use cases deliver value: linking analysis data to external design apps, connecting analysis models to BIM models through Speckle's automation engine, and building dashboards for review, insights, and client presentations without needing a full BIM model. This connector demonstrates how collaboration between software providers can help address real industry needs and create more connected workflows.

What you can do with it

With analysis and BIM models living on the same platform, with full version history, teams are already putting TSD data to work in three ways:

• Linking analysis data to external design apps so you can push TSD results downstream into the other tools your team relies on to deliver projects
• Connecting analysis models to BIM models through Speckle's automation engine, to close the loop between structural analysis and building design
• Building dashboards for review, insights, and client presentations, all without needing a full BIM model in hand

Getting started

The integration has been enabled by Tekla for all TSD users in the recent TSD 2026 Sp3 release.

TSD is a strong example of what's possible when software providers collaborate to solve real problems for the industry. We're glad WSP's Structures team pushed us to build it, and even happier they got to shape it!
