Speckle's biggest release yet brings a new AI layer built directly on your models and a re-platformed viewer that removes the size limits that once made browser-based 3D impractical for your largest projects.
For years, AEC has treated "AI" and "at scale" as two separate problems when it comes to design and model data. AI tools have been bolted onto exports, PDFs, and drawings, all of which have lived disconnected from the model since they were built. And browser-based viewing hit a ceiling the second a project got big enough to matter: a federated civil model, a multi-mile infrastructure corridor, a full building portfolio.
Today we're shipping the fix for both so you can build on the model, not around it. And we’re enabling the workflows you’ve always loved in Speckle across more data sources than ever before, as our Bentley ProjectWise and Tekla Structural Designer integrations become available.
Ask your model anything
The industry has been building AI on top of PDFs and exports. We’ve built ours on top of the model, at the source where decisions are made and captured.
That's the fundamental principle behind what we call “practical AI” at Speckle. It doesn't read a snapshot someone exported for last Tuesday’s design review. Instead, it reads the live model, the one that's actually current, and answers from there. This means the answer isn't just fast; it's also grounded in something you can go back and check.
That distinction matters more than it sounds like it should. We've heard it from customers over and over: the AI itself is rarely the hard part. Trusting it is. As one of our customers put it plainly in a recent workshop with us: “The AI will accelerate delivery, but the validation is gold.” Nobody wants a confident-sounding answer they can't stand behind in a client meeting.
With Speckle, you can ask your model anything and check its work.
In practice, that looks like the unglamorous stuff nobody wants to spend their week on:
- Reports that used to take an afternoon of copy-pasting from three different tools are generated in the time it takes to ask the question.
- Validations—missing fire ratings, mismatched naming, broken parameters—were surfaced and explained, not just flagged.
- Client deliverables are built from what the model says right now, not from what it said the last time someone remembered to export it.
This is practical AI at scale, not a demo. It's built to handle the data-heavy work your team already does by hand (and loathes doing), just faster and traceable back to the model every time.
"Our model data becomes siloed and dies" is something we frequently hear from customers. That's what disconnected exports get you. Speckle's AI layer works because it never leaves the source.
Any project, any size, anywhere…in your browser
The second piece of this release doesn't have a chat window. It underpins everything: a new database architecture powering both our analytical model and the Speckle viewer, and it changes what "browser-based 3D" is capable of.
Teams working on large building, civil, and infrastructure projects know the problem well: massive federated models full of alignments and corridors choke browser tabs and overwhelm machines without a discrete GPU. As a result, the people who need quick access most—site teams, field engineers, and reviewers without dedicated workstations—remain locked out of the valuable information in the model.
That's the problem this release was built to solve. A new data model and packfile architecture underneath the viewer, the biggest re-platforming project in Speckle's history, means our best-in-class viewer can now handle models at a scale that was previously impractical anywhere, let alone in a browser tab. Internally, we're already tracking this in the billions of triangles.
As a result, Speckle is now available for any project, any size, anywhere, in your browser. No desktop-grade machine required. No more choosing between "big enough to be useful" and "small enough to actually open."
Why these two things together
These aren't two separate announcements sharing a launch date. They're proof of our progress towards delivering on the same platform thesis, albeit from two directions. The performance work proves the foundation can carry anything you throw at it: any project, any size, anywhere. And now, with practical AI, we’re helping you put that trusted data foundation to work harder than ever before.
And more integrations than ever!
As Speckle’s analytical capabilities and support for large, complex infrastructure models expand, we’re excited to share that we continue to add new integrations with commonly used CDEs and design authoring tools, guided by customer demand.
Bentley ProjectWise
As part of this release, our Bentley ProjectWise integration is now live. It supports publishing geometry and data from OpenRoads, IFC, Revit, Civil3D, Navisworks, and Tekla file formats for analysis, validation and coordination purposes.
Tekla Structural Designer (TSD)
We’re also launching our Tekla Structural Designer integration (TSD), built in close collaboration with WSP’s UK Structures team and Trimble. TSD joins ETABS as one of Speckle's structural analysis connectors. Both are live, in-app connectors that publish analysis results directly into Speckle to enable validation and automation workflows. These integrations are publish-only by design: for an analysis tool, getting results out into Speckle so they can be reviewed and validated is the useful direction. The integration will be enabled by Tekla for all TSD users in mid-September when TSD 2026 Sp3 is released.
Tom Sargent, Senior Engineer at WSP, shares the impact the new TSD integration has had for their team:
"During our initial rollout of Speckle, we were inundated with requests for a TSD connector. It's the preferred analysis platform for many of our teams across the UK. People could see the value of bringing models into Speckle for review and validation, but couldn't yet bring in their TSD models. Now that's changed. We can capture both analysis and BIM models, with full version history, on one platform, and put that data to work. So far, we're seeing three primary use cases deliver value: linking analysis data to external design apps, connecting analysis models to BIM models through Speckle’s automation engine, and building dashboards for review, insights, and client presentations without needing a full BIM model. This connector demonstrates how collaboration between software providers can help address real industry needs and create more connected workflows."
PowerBI Connector Performance Enhancements
Our updated data model also enables portfolio-scale performance for our best-in-class Power BI connector. The new Power BI connector loads only what you need by default, keeping even your largest models fast and responsive instead of stalling on a fully-expanded table. The 3D visual streams geometry directly and becomes interactive the moment data arrives, so you're working with your model rather than waiting for it. The result? Across our benchmarking tests, the Power BI connector and 3D visual loaded up to 50x faster.

Ask your model something it's never been asked before. Open the model you've been avoiding because it never loaded right. Ask how many classification codes are missing from the model you’re working on before you go build an estimate off it. Either way, this release was built so that the size of your project or the shape of your question no longer becomes the limiting factor.
