Assign Revit categories to your Rhino model

Early-stage project delivery just got easier for teams using Rhino and Revit with our new category assignment tool. Don't let complicated tools get in the way of good collaboration. Speckle helps architects and designers focus on clearly communicating design intent without needing to know how to set up complex BIM families or parameters, or having Revit installed.
Feature highlights
This is a solution for simple coordination between Rhino and Revit that doesn't require native Revit elements. The category assignment tool lets you assign semantic meaning to your Rhino geometry so they can be received as categorized direct shapes in Revit. When you load a Speckle Revit model in Rhino, you can also use this tool to navigate your Rhino model by category.
Correctly categorized DirectShapes will follow the visibility settings of views in Revit, and can be counted in schedules.
How it works
- Assign categories by selected objects, or by Rhino layers
- All valid categories for Revit DirectShapes are available for assignment
- Highlights objects with assigned categories directly in your model
- Visualize your categories online, without needing Rhino or Revit open
- Loading a Revit model in Rhino will auto-detect categories for navigation
Pick your assignment mode

Select objects in Rhino to assign categories to, or map your categories by Rhino layer instead. Layer mode is best for more developed models with structured layers, so you don't need to keep track of individual objects.
Check category assignments in Rhino

Click the Select button next to each assigned category to select and highlight those objects directly in your Rhino model. Click Select All to select all objects in your file that have categories assigned.
Check category assignments in the viewer

You don't need to open Rhino to validate that geometry is assigned to the correct categories; use Speckle's online 3D viewer filtering tool to colorize your Rhino model by its assigned categories, even from your phone or tablet.
