Get live 3D model dashboards into Miro with Speckle

Introduction

Design teams often work across multiple tools, modeling software, dashboards, and collaboration platforms, which can make keeping data connected challenging. Speckle simplifies this by letting you share models, data, and insights seamlessly.

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to send a model to Speckle, create an interactive dashboard with Speckle Intelligence, and embed it into collaboration tools like Miro and Notion.

This workflow creates a single, shareable source of truth, combining design context with real-time data for reviews, coordination, and data-driven decisions. It works with Revit and other supported applications, enabling analytics directly in your existing tools without duplicating data or disrupting your workflow.

Prerequisites

Before starting with Speckle Intelligence, make sure you’ve created a project in a Speckle workspace and uploaded at least one model.

The model can originate from any supported host application—such as Revit, Archicad, Civil3D, Rhino, Grasshopper, or others—or you can just drag and drop a supported file, like an IFC, directly into Speckle. The key point for this tutorial is that your model includes the data you'd like to review.

Step 1: Send your model to Speckle

The first step is to send your model from your host application to Speckle. In this tutorial, we’ll use Revit as an example, but the same workflow applies to any other application supported by Speckle through our integrations.

To get started, you’ll need to have a Speckle account with a connector installed for your host app.

Once the connector is installed, follow the video below and the step-by-step instructions in our documentation to send your model to Speckle. The documentation also includes guides for all other supported integrations, so you can easily follow along even if you’re using a different application.

Step 2: Create your dashboard with Speckle Intelligence

Next, you’ll create a dashboard using Speckle Intelligence. Start by creating a new dashboard and giving it a descriptive name.

Once the dashboard is set up, connect it to the model you just uploaded to Speckle. You can then begin building your dashboard using the widgets available in the left-hand sidebar.

If you’re working with a Revit model, you’ll find a set of purpose-built widgets that automatically extract and organize data from your model. If your model comes from another supported application and you don’t see app-specific widgets, you can use the widgets in the Basic section to access and visualize your data.

After you’ve finished configuring your dashboard, click Share in the top-right corner. Enable sharing, copy the generated URL, and you’re ready to go. You can now share this link with anyone who needs access to the dashboard and its information - no Speckle account required.

Step 3: Embed your dashboard in Miro

Now that your dashboard is complete and you’ve generated a shareable URL, you can embed it directly into Miro.

Miro is a powerful platform for collaboration, and many teams already use it for design reviews, coordination, and workshops. In previous tutorials, we’ve shown how to bring your 3D models into Miro, combining both 2D and 3D content in a single collaborative space.

With Speckle Intelligence, you can now take this a step further by embedding your dashboards in Miro. This allows you to add a layer of analytics and data directly into your design reviews. By bringing together models, visuals, and real-time data in one place, you can enrich your mood boards, workflows, and stories - and make more meaningful, data-driven decisions as a team.

Bonus step: Embed your dashboard in Notion (or any app supporting embeds)

Because your dashboard is now shareable, you can use its URL to embed it in any web application that supports embeds.

In this example, we’ll embed the dashboard into a Notion page, but the same approach works for other tools that allow embedded content. This makes it easy to bring your Speckle Intelligence dashboards into the platforms your team already uses—keeping insights, documentation, and decision-making all in one place.

Speckle Intelligence: From data overload to data value

Every BIM model is, at its core, a massive database. Speckle makes it easy to extract insights, not just consume static information.

You don't need dashboards that update once a week or once a month. You need live insights, not stale reports.

Speckle Intelligence is the new, better way to see models, projects, and portfolios. Intelligence dashboards give you direct access to individual models, letting you explore their contents in detail, track changes between versions, and evaluate their impact on your project.
