Updates to the ETABS, Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, and Navisworks integrations
Our latest release 3.8.2 marks the end of August: here’s a summary of everything that’s changed for the month.
What's New
Revit
- Added material quantity extraction for railings(handrails + toprails)
- Added snapping support for imported mesh vertices and NURBS curves allowing for dimensioning of reference imported geometry

You can add dimensions to Meshes thanks to this enhancement.
- Added Area Scheme property extraction
- Improved Parts handling to eliminate duplicate geometry when "Show Parts Only" is enabled
Rhino
- Added Revit category mapping for improved interoperability - pre-assign Revit categories to Rhino objects before publishing. Read our full announcement here.

- Added layer mapping support for more flexible object organization when working with Revit integration
- Improved user dictionary support to preserve custom metadata when sending objects to Speckle - requested by our community!
- Added mesh optimization setting , reducing file sizes for non-rendering workflows

Mesh Optimization Setting in Rhino
- Fixed block instances to respect layer visibility - hidden layer objects are now properly excluded from publishing
Grasshopper
- Added extract parameter functionality - right-click on output parameters to extract them as standalone components
- Improved SpeckleProperties handling of lists
- Enhanced FilterSpeckleObjects to work with materials and nested property searches

- Fixed deconstruct node to handle multiple objects with different field structures
- Updated sample scripts to current best practices
- Enhanced data handling for complex nested properties
ETABS
- Added full result extraction with UI integration - (Base reactions, column forces, pier forces, Story drifts, load cases , validations and joint reactions)
Navisworks
- Added Revit category mapping to publish derived element categories when transferring from Navisworks to Revit where the original source was Revit
Community Shotouts
Special thanks to Christian from BaneDanemark for requesting the user dictionary feature restoration, and to Baker Hicks and AREP for driving the railing material quantities enhancement!
